Do you get upset when the password strength shows “weak password” while setting new login credentials? We all have a tough time creating a unique password for every mail account or social media platform. The tougher task is to recollect all passwords. Here are seven tips to remember your passwords

1. Use a combination of letters (lower and upper case), numbers and special characters. You can even use emoticon symbols like :p,😀 or😉. You definitely won’t forget these!

2. Avoid using your own name, anyone’s name from your family or your company name.

3. Don’t use dictionary words; it’s easy to crack such passwords.

4. Use different passwords for different websites. Because if you set the same password for every website, you will be in deep trouble of one of your accounts is hacked. It will give an easy access to other sites.

5. Do not use the word “password” for your password. It’s terribly weak and can be hacked in no time. Also, do not use letters or numbers in series like “abcd” or “1234”

6. Use the initials of any phrase to form a strong password.

7. For security, download reliable password manager applications such as Dashlane 4, LastPass 3.0 Premium, or RoboForm Everywhere 7 to save all your passwords in one database. So, now you have to remember only one password to unlock this application and get access to all your passwords.

Here are two examples of a strong password, and you will definitely remember these! – tlshiwwya12# – here, we have used the initials of the famous rhyme “Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are”, followed by any number and a special character. – Ilinyc#23 – here, we have used a random phrase “I live in New York City”, followed by a special character and may be you can add your street or flat number, to help you remember better.

Leave no room for password blunders anymore.

FOUR Ways To Download YouTube Videos

YouTube recently introduced the offline videos feature in India through its app. However, it is poorly implemented and inefficient, taking up more of your phone’s storage and not all of the videos are available offline. Here are some other ways to download and keep YouTube videos offline

1. Downloader Websites

It is one of the easiest ways to download Youtube videos. Web sites such as Keepvid, Savido, Clipconverter, Videograbby helps you download files, especially video files in the desired format you want. All you have to do is copy and paste the link of the YouTube video and choose the resolution and format of the file you want. This even works on your android phone through the mobile browser, but not on any ios devices. Continue reading

Bertrand Russell Lists His 20 Favorite Words in 1958 (and What Are Some of Yours?)

Is it possible to fully separate a word’s sound from its meaning—to value words solely for their music? Some poets come close: Wallace Stevens, Sylvia Plath, John Ashbery. Rare phonetic metaphysicians. Surely we all do this when we hear words in a language we do not know. When I first encountered the Spanish word entonces, I thought it was the most beautiful three syllables I’d ever heard.

russell_in_1938

I still thought so, despite some disappointment, when I learned it was a commonplace adverb meaning “then,” not the rarified name of some magical being. My reverence for entonces will not impress a native Spanish speaker. Since I do not think in Spanish and struggle to find the right words when I speak it—always translating—the sound and sense of the language run on two different tracks in my mind.

An example from my native tongue: the word obdurate, which I adore, became an instant favorite for its sound the first time I said it aloud, before I’d ever used it in a sentence or parsed its meaning. It’s not a common English word, however, and maybe that makes it special. A word like always, which has a pretty sound, rarely strikes me as musical or interesting, though non-English speakers may find it so.

Every writer has favorite words. Some of those words are ordinary, some of them not so much. David Foster Wallace’s lists of favorite words consist of obscurities and archaisms unlikely to ever feature in the average conversation. “James Joyce thought cuspidor the most beautiful word in the English language,” writes the blogFutility Closet,” Arnold Bennet chose pavement. J.R.R. Tolkien felt the phrase cellar door had an especially beautiful sound.”

Who’s to say how much these authors could separate sound from sense? Futility Closet illustrates the problem with a humorous anecdote about Max Beerbohm, and brings us the list below of philosopher Bertrand Russell’s 20 favorite words, offered in response to a reader’s question in 1958. Though Russell himself had a fascinatingtheory about how we make words mean things, he supposedly made this list without regard for these words’ meanings. Continue reading

Is Facebook Stalking You To Suggest New Friends Via ‘People You May Know’?

facebook-sign-up

Ever surprised by finding a person whose face you remember but not the name until the “People you may know” feature on Facebook told you about the person? Do you know the reason behind it? This is probably because the social networking site stalked you and used your phone’s location to suggest new people you could befriend.

The accuracy that this feature shows has surprised as well as disturbed Facebook users for some time now.

“Thanks to tracking the location of users’ smartphones, the social network may suggest that you friend people you have shared a GPS data point with, meaning your friend suggestions could include someone whose face you know, but whose name you did not until Facebook offered it up to you,” Tech website Fusion reported on Tuesday.

This happens when two people are at the same place at the same time and used their smartphones to either check-in or just scroll through what his/her friends might have shared on the website.Facebook “always” has access to a user’s location until the setting is changed to “never”.  Meanwhile, Facebook has clarified that this is not the only reason why users are getting these suggestions. “The two persons must have had something else in common, such as overlapping networks,” a Facebook spokesperson was quoted as saying.

“Location-information by itself does not indicate that two people might be friends. That’s why location is only one of the factors we use to suggest people you may know,” the spokesperson said. If this news disturbs you, you can prevent this by turning off Facebook’s access to your location — a feature which is in your phone’s privacy settings.

Why we are unaware of how unaware we are

Each one of us has a relationship with our own ignorance, a dishonest, complicated relationship, and that dishonesty keeps us sane, happy, and willing to get out of bed in the morning.

Part of that ignorance is a blind spot we each possess that obscures both our competence and incompetence.

In the case of singing, you might get all the way to an audition on X-Factor on national television before someone finally provides you with an accurate appraisal. David Dunning says that the shock that some people feel when Simon Cowell cruelly explains to them that they suck is often the result of living for years in an environment filled with mediocrity enablers. Friends and family, peers and coworkers, they don’t want to be mean or impolite. They encourage you to keep going until you end up in front of millions reeling from your first experience with honest feedback.

David DunningWhen you are unskilled yet unaware, you often experience what is now known in psychology as the Dunning-Kruger effect, a psychological phenomenon that arises sometimes in your life because you are generally very bad at self-assessment. If you have ever been confronted with the fact that you were in over your head, or that you had no idea what you were doing, or that you thought you were more skilled at something than you actually were – then you may have experienced this effect. It is very easy to be both unskilled and unaware of it, and in this episode we explore why that is with professor David Dunning, one of the researchers who coined the term and a scientist who continues to add to our understanding of the phenomenon.

Clothes That Transmit Digital Data Soon

Imagine shirts that act as antennas for smartphones or tablets, workout clothes that monitor fitness level or even a flexible fabric cap that senses activity in the brain!

All this will soon be possible as the researchers working on wearable electronics have been able to embroider circuits into fabric with super precision — a key step toward the design of clothes that gather, store or transmit digital information.

How fast does a fart travel?

Passing gas may be an indelicate matter for humans, but for at least one species, farts are a means of communication. Researchers have studied the farting habits of Atlantic and Pacific herring, which make high-frequency sounds by forcing air out of their anuses to “talk” to each other in the dark. The farts encourage other fish to cozy up as the group bunks down for the night. It’s a flatulent friendly environment that humans, who have been known to emit bed-clearing farts, just don’t share.

And, while we don’t use flatulence to communicate like these finned farters, everyone, from glamorous celebrities to powerful politicos, passes gas. In fact, the average person farts between 10 and 20 times a day . A fart is a potent mixture of swallowed air and bacterial byproducts that ferment in the intestine. These byproducts — nitrogen (59 percent), hydrogen (21 percent), carbon dioxide (9 percent), methane (7 percent) and oxygen (4 percent) — combine to create a flammable gas that is heavier than air and, because of the hydrogen sulfide, contains a scent that is sometimes reminiscent of a rotten egg. Even so, all farts don’t smell the same because of the varying amounts of bacteria and yeast in each person’s
