YouTube recently introduced the offline videos feature in India through its app. However, it is poorly implemented and inefficient, taking up more of your phone’s storage and not all of the videos are available offline. Here are some other ways to download and keep YouTube videos offline
1. Downloader Websites
It is one of the easiest ways to download Youtube videos. Web sites such as Keepvid, Savido, Clipconverter, Videograbby helps you download files, especially video files in the desired format you want. All you have to do is copy and paste the link of the YouTube video and choose the resolution and format of the file you want. This even works on your android phone through the mobile browser, but not on any ios devices.2. VLC player
Downloading YouTube video with VLC player is only recommended if you don’t want to deal with pop-ups and ads and don’t want to install another software just for the sake of downloading the videos. It is not straightforward as the one before. Copy the link to the YouTube video and then go to the ‘Media’ menu in the VLC player and choose ‘Open Network Stream’. By pasting the video link you can stream the YouTube video. From here go to the ‘Tools’ menu and ‘Codec Information’ after stopping or pausing the video and copy the video link shown there. Paste the link in any browser, which will now play the youtube video, right click and choose ‘Save as’ to download the video.
3. Browser Extensions
There are many browser extensions or add-ons for various browsers that will help you download YouTube videos. Video Download Helper is a popular extension available on both Chrome and Firefox. FastestTube is another one. They provide you with pop-ups or download tab in the browser to download the videos.
4. Software
Third party software provides more control when it comes to downloading Youtube videos. Sadly many of them are paid or freemium. YTD Video Downloader and Any Video Converter are the most popular ones. There are many free options out there, but beware that they could be bundled with adware or other malware most times.
